The foundation AI needs to add value is the same one your people already need to succeed.
AI needs context: the goal, the work to be done, the boundaries, and what it needs to ask permission for. Your people need the same. We call it clarity: what we're aiming for, what their job is, and who decides.
AI needs structured, connected data from a single source of truth. Bad data in, bad output out. Your people need the same to make good, fast decisions.
AI needs clear processes to work well. Your people perform better when they know how to do their job.
Think your team already has that? Try explaining their work to an AI. The gaps show up fast. As one reader put it: if you cannot explain the job clearly to a machine, you probably have not explained it clearly to the humans either.
Where to start
Start with the goal. Map the work to be done and redesign the workflows around it. Then decide what needs a human and where AI can do or support the work.
Take a sales team. Your reps need to be in customer meetings, and that stays human. But AI can update the CRM for them. The work gets done, your reps get time back (no one wants to update the CRM), and you get clean data to make decisions on and build on later.
Finally, check who makes which decisions, and whether that still fits the goal.
Get the foundation right, and both your people and your AI can deliver.
