You can get the headcount math right and still miss the number

Span of control, AE-to-support ratios, quota per AE, conversion worked backwards from won deals. The model was right. The year still did not match it.

I have done my share of capacity planning. Scoping the sales and marketing org needed to hit next year's growth target.

The math works. Span of control, AE-to-support ratios, quota per AE, conversion rates worked backwards from won deals to leads, all inside the budget we were given.

Then the year starts, and reality doesn't match the model.

Hiring lands on plan. But new AEs take longer to become productive sellers than the ramp curve says they will. They have the skills. Something else is in the way.

Lead volume lands on plan too. Pipeline builds. It just doesn't convert.

What capacity planning never accounts for is everything else that makes a revenue engine run. Who does what. Who decides. How work moves between functions, and where it gets dropped in the handover. Whether the tools follow the workflow or fight it. Whether the data tells anyone anything they can act on.

You can get the headcount math right and still miss the number.

Results rely on people. People rely on the system around them.

This is what Ygora is for. You say what you have to deliver; it asks what delivering it takes, across your people, how the team is organised, how the work moves and what your systems show you. See how it works →
