Recruitment should never be the starting point

Results, then recruitment, then ramp, then retain. Hiring is a consequence of knowing what you need to achieve — and who you need to achieve it with.

Most leaders treat hiring as a standalone event. Fill the role, move on. The best teams I have worked with think about it differently.

It starts with results. What does the team need to deliver? That shapes who you recruit — not a job description copy-pasted from last year, but a real understanding of what strengths the team is missing.

Research consistently shows that teams perform best when what people want to do and what they are great at meets what actually needs to get done. Recruit for that fit, and you set up everything that follows.

Then comes ramp. My RevOps background taught me the value of fast time-to-productivity in sales orgs, but it is true for every role. When the right person is in the right seat, they ramp faster. When they ramp faster, they deliver results sooner.

And when people see results, they stay. That is retain. You keep great people by knowing what makes them grow, what motivates them, and what makes them want to keep building together.

Recruitment should never be the starting point. It is a consequence of knowing what you need to achieve, and who you need to achieve it with.

This is what Ygora is for. You say what you have to deliver; it asks what delivering it takes, across your people, how the team is organised, how the work moves and what your systems show you. See how it works →
